How to use:
At the left side of the screen you can use the input fields in which you key in your actual search terms. To the left of every input field there are popup menus with which you can choose the fields of the database you want to search. Each of these popup menues displays a default field, in which you can search, but you can change the field according to your search wishes by choosing from the popup menu. If you already see the name of the field you would like to search you can just go to that line and input your search term. You don´t have to start at the top.

At the right side of the screen you can select the output format, that is the amount of information which a successful search will produce, by using the popup menu. The default setting is "Short form", i.e. the basic information about a text, just enough to identify it: internal code number, city and library, press mark, name of the author or authors, title.

You can use the following wildcards in the search fields:
'.' (period) or '_' (underscore) for one character, '*' (asterisk) or '%' (percent sign) for any number of characters. Entries in separate entry fields are connected with 'AND'; boolean 'OR'-search within a field can be indicated by '|'.

We strongly recommend to make frequent use of wildcard searches, in particular for name and title searches, because these are not yet standardised in this version.
